On Sunday, i signed up for a image consultancy course in Hong Kong’s Bio Beauty Culture. The course was conducted in Cantonese, with presentation using Apple. In about 2 hours, the principal image consultant went through image tips such as what colour theme each person belonged to. This was separated in the 4 seasons of spring, summer, autumn or winter, and whether this person should be cool or warm. The 2 hour course was priced at HK$380.

After ending the course, we were given a colour analysis, whereby coloured cloth was placed on our neck and chest area in order to choose the most appealing colour suitable for our skintone. Since it was an image consultancy course, i was of course already wearing make up, and before i could go through the colour analysis, i had to remove my make up so we were given make up removers.

Originally i felt that my skin was quite ok and presentable, however, after having some coloured cloths placed on my neck, there seemed to be lots of room for improvement. Between the magenta and the brownish orange, i looked more presentable with the magenta. Eye bags, dark circles, and red skin blotches appeared more apparent when i was wearing the brownish orange.

After the end of the session, lots of beauty consultants attended to us, in order to sell us their bridal hair and make up service packages. For a 1 bridal make up and hair style, it costs H$2,088, while for 2 bridal make up and 2 hair styles, it would be HK$4,088. The best deal would be their ultimate wonderful bridal combo, whereby this included 3 styles of make up & bridal hair styles, followed by make up & hair styling for the groom, with a special price of HK$4,988. When signing up for this special wedding combo, there will be free facial treatment, uv light therapy, eye brow trimming, and a rebate on the image consultancy course that i’ve just attended.

Is it expensive? When looking at their range of services, it was not too bad, as there will be a total of 4 people assisting each bride. There will be a make up artist, hair stylist, beauty assistant and a marketing manager. In Malaysia, bridal shops charge about RM500 to RM800 for 2 styles of make up and hair, while freelance make up artists charges start from RM800 too.

The main point was to really think of what styles i should be wearing, is it romantic, or an elegant hair up do? Therefore, there is always the bridal make up testing and this company charges about HK$500 per style, while in Malaysia, a freelancer charges about RM100 per style.

I decided to not sign up for this package yet, as i have made appointment for a bridal make up trial with another company today. After today’s make up trial, then i will be able to decide which company to sign up for.
