My Hong Kong wedding will be held in about 2 more weeks and i’m still compiling my guests list. We’ll be having 1 set of wedding cards for Hong Kong while another set for my Malaysia wedding invitation cards. Apart from giving out physical wedding cards, we also created wedding invitation e-cards, which you can view at www.eonenet.com/wedding/ecard_hk.htm which was totally customised by our web designer in Singapore.

Our concept was High Tech (internet) so we had images from our wedding photography sessions, as slides that appear within a hand-drawn computer screen. The information about the wedding ceremony, wedding dinner as well as online RSVP was available together on the same webpage. We also had the information about our wedding in both English and Chinese language in order to appeal to our guests in Hong Kong.

First step we did was to SMS our selected friends, and customers. Within hours, we already received online confirmation of their participation plus good wishes. We registered the domain name www.9Wedding.com to cloak the actual url of the webpage (which was hosted in eOneNet.com), and here is the sample of the SMS i sent out yesterday.

Hi, Fione has invited you to her wedding dinner on Mar 4 (Sun) at The Arch, Kowloon. Details online @ www.9Wedding.com. Please confirm your email & attendance.

I actually wanted to put in the address in Chinese but didn’t know how to read nor type chinese fonts, therefore i just decided to send out the bridal reception dinner in English. Since i was using the Motorola “Ming” A1200, i just had to click on the touch screen to type my messages fast. I’ve still not really gotten used to typing SMSes on my Sony Ericsson.

Tomorrow, we’ll be emailing out the invitation to our guests too. For selected friends (which we had their mailing addresses), we will have to start mailing out the physical wedding cards during the Chinese New Year holidays too.
