Valentine’s Day flowers - romantic gifts or waste of money?
Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular celebrated day by lovers and couples worldwide. However, i feel that everyday can also be Valentine’s Day if we only put in some effort to it. We went to Tsim Sha Tsui and went to the Marco Polo Hong Kong hotel, but was not eager for their valentine’s day set, and from there, ventured around to check out other restaurants. Since it was near to the Lunar New Year, the Star Ferry terminal area was nicely decorated with lots of lanterns, flowers and we couldn’t resist taken some photos.

Here we are in front of the Ocean Centre shopping mall entrance.
Of course on the streets, there were lots of people carrying big bouquets of flowers, teddy bears, and of course flower prices shoots to at least HK$1,000 per bouquet. Yes, it’s always a nice feeling to have people give you flowers especialy on Valentine’s Day, but i won’t think of it as a necessity. When we were apart in 2 different countries last year during Valentine’s Day, he surprised me by ordering flowers online and got them delivered to my office.

Simple little rose bouquet. The most amazing flowers i got were 99 stalks of lilies and that was during a party at my home. All my relatives were busy posing with the flowers which smelled really refreshing. However, my grandma who was a practical traditional lady asked me “since the flowers are so expensive, why didn’t he just send you gold?” Funny, but right on the point this time. Since the flowers were so attractive, she also rushed over to pose with the flowers.
It seems like flowers are definitely one of the best choices for romantic gifts, but be sure you avoid flowers such as Carnations or Chrysanthemum.
