I realised that my Malaysia wedding is going to be held in just less than 2 months now, and guess what, i still have not confirmed my wedding make up artist. How do brides normally choose their wedding make up consultant?

The first thing that i did was to search online in Google, and Yahoo using keywords like “malaysia make up artist” , malaysia bridal make up artist, and also malaysia wedding make up artist. To my dismay, i was not able to get much choices of related results.

In the wedding forums, and some wedding blogs, i saw this abbreviated MUA term, and yes, you guessed it right, Make Up Artist.

There were many freelance make up artists such as Lee Kuen, and i saw a nice website of Monica Lee. Surprisingly, i’ve met Lee Kuen in person a few months back when i was attending a wedding fair in Prince Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. As we started chatting, i was surprised that she could actually recognise me as the Internet Marketing coach, from eOneNet. She has read some of our interviews in the local media.

However, at that point Lee Kuen has mentioned that she was already booked for a wedding make up session at Renaissance Hotel on the day of my wedding dinner. She also recommended me a friend of hers, that was also present at the wedding exhibition that day, but this bridal make up freelancer, did not respond to my emails. Then, i totally forgot about this.

Since i was unable to get the websites of the make up artists, i tried searching for wedding directories and malaysia bridal guides listing, and still there were very little results. Some of the wedding directories listed the telephone numbers of the wedding make up freelancers, but without any address (so i couldn’t figure out which Malaysian state the listing was from), and not even having their websites or portfolios / samples of work.

Alternatively, i can get bridal make up services from the wedding studios. This means i’ll have to spend time visiting the wedding studios in Malaysia at the popular spots like Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Loke Yew.

In Hong Kong, it’s easier to find make up artists for my wedding because most wedding magazines will feature advertisements of various make up artists. Moreover, there are also wedding shopping malls, such as the Golden Plaza Mall @ Prince Edward, which not just sells wedding supplies, but also houses lots of bridal make up service providers.
