Crash Diets for Brides

I’ve constantly been on “diets” for the past 7 or 8 years. There’s always a new diet, or weight loss program. As the wedding date draws nearer, i realised that i’m at least 10 pounds overweight than my ideal weight.

I was watching a tv program yesterday and they said 2.5 piece of white bread is equivalent to the calories of half bowl of rice. I’m such a bread lover, but i didn’t realise that it’s so fattening.

What are the diet plans you have used? I’ve treid most of them, ranging from Atkins (protein diet), up to fruit juices only diet.

Since i knew i had to lose weight fast, i was tempted to have 1 last round of Buffet before i start my diet. Therefore, a few days earlier, i headed to the Marco Polo Hong Kong hotel @ Tsim Sha Tsui for their crabs buffet. This was supposed to be my 1 last fling before i start my diet program, but looks like i have not been able to keep up to my promise.

Now, seafood was supposed to be protein so i was thinkig as long as i try to eat more white meat and avoid the carbohydrates like rice and noodles, i would be safe.

Even my wedding dress designers told me that brides tend to lose weight just before their wedding days (miraculously it didn’t happen to me in my earlier HK wedding reception) so i’m going to go through a bootcamp of solid training and rigid diet program, starting next week.

Hmm… I’m no nutritional expert, but I thought that seafoods increase activeness for our body, and we’d end up wasting off the extra energy, but at the same time drives up our appetite, so, we might end up eat more.

I know of the Atkin diets, but I personally think it’s okay to eat lotsa rice because they burn fast (unlike bread or meat). The analogy of burning a log of wood with eating meat make sense though, but at the same time, we need hard work to initiate the fire. So, I think, as long as we exercise a lot, eating lots meat/protein instead of carbo is good.

Oh well, you have your specialists to help you with your diet. All the best scrapping some pounds off for the wedding.

I’ve been skipping carbohydrates for years, but Atkins doesn’t seem to work that well for me. However, I’ve seen friends who have benefited from protein diets so i’m sure it does work…

Recently i realised that i did lose some weight too, and i guess it’s about adding extra dose of veggies into my daily meals. So, no matter how much i yearn for that nasi lemak, i’ll just have to stick to my protein and vegetables diet.

I totally agree that if you exercise, calories will be used up & fats will be gone too, but i’m the lazy type, so have excuses why tomorrow is a better day to workout, haha.

2 more weeks to my wedding day so i’m hoping for the best.

    Hi Fione,

My wife also running some lose fat program herself…

Skip Rice for dinner. she only eat meal/vega most of the dinner.

Lunch and breakfast is a must due to alot of internet article on it.

Protein Diet is somehow good but she try that w/o any luck..’:(

Happy to read your blog and i’m setting up my own blog to give a space for my wedding preparation.

    All the best

    Yup,

Eat moderate amounts of servings & try not to indulge in dinner. As a matter of fact, some weight loss programs advise to not eat after 7pm as our metabolism tends to slow down towards the night.

Great to see husbands setting up blogs but i realised maintaining a wedding blog is not easy as there seems to be endless items that you need to consider when planning a wedding (so i’m most likely to write the blog after midnight).

I’ll be posting some diet programs or menus here and then new brides (or even grooms) can test these items out!
