Do you wear a wedding ring?

Last week, i was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, and there was a nice European gentleman next to me. We had a fun time talking about living in Asia, as he has been in different Asian cities since 1997. Halfway through the conversation, he made a remark, which was, “How come you are not wearing your wedding band?”

Actually, both me & Harrace do not wear our wedding band. How about you? I like to have different accessories to match my different outfits, such as gold coloured huge rings to match a red bold jacket, and cute rings when i have a more “girlie” attire on. Therefore, for both of us, we did not mind not wearing a wedding band on our finger even after the wedding.

How did you choose your wedding ring? We preferred classic designs and in white gold or platinum rather than gold wedding bands. Our original choice of wedding ring was quite unique, with the groom wedding band with blue sapphire and the bride wedding band with red ruby stone. To fit with our “frog prince” concept, we even had each wedding ring with a king and queen crown on the platinum setting. Then towards our wedding reception, the jeweller who custom made the pair of wedding band for us, made a mistake and created bands which were too big for our fingers. Harrace could even wear my “bride” ruby ring so you can visualise how huge the ring size was.

Finally, we changed to a more simple wedding ring design, platinum with diamond and borders on the side of the ring. The wedding ring even came with a pink heart shaped ring holder. The only times we wore the wedding rings were when we exchanged vows in Hong Kong and Malaysia during the wedding dinner.

If you have found your true partner, then wearing your ring or not is not such a big deal after all, don’t you think?

After our June wedding, we have been busy travelling and today, we have the first birthday celebration for Harrace, my hubby.

Where did we celebrate? We were in Singapore yesterday and a group of customers even sang him a great birthday song, which you can see here

So after work yesterday, we went to Clarke Quay (popular tourist and nightlife area in Singapore) to have dinner at Jumbo Restaurant. We ordered the popular Sri Lankan chilli crab, oysters on omelette and also cod fish. We were so full but yet had space for Hokkaido matcha (green tea) ice cream.

Today is the exact date for the celebration but we were on a flight back to Hong Kong and we will have our celebration again tonight. A special Napoleon mango cake and i hope that he’ll love it later.

What was the first birthday gift you gave to your husband or wife after the wedding? Me? Both of us bought so much stuff these few months, like our brand new HK$4 million apartment in Hong Kong, new Mercedes Benz in Malaysia, and now we are even investing in our own computer lab in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong.

Who is giving who presents? It’s hard to tell now.
