I’m sure all of you are aware of the February 14 being Valentine’s Day. Today itself is another interesting date for Chinese worldwide as it’s the Chinese Valentine’s Day. This is the 15th day of the chinese new year (lunar new year changes each year depending on the lunar calendar).

For me, it is also ultra special because it marks the first year anniversary of my Hong Kong wedding (which was Mar 4, 2007 and in chinese calendar it’s the 15th day of the chinese new year). Check out my HK wedding dinner photo and wedding ceremony on our wedding site at http://www.9wedding.com

If you have not enjoyed a proper western valentine’s day last week, take this last chance to tell your loved one how much you appreciate him or her. For sure, the prices of the flowers are way lower this time!

Happy Valentine’s Day ! And if you need to say that out in Chinese, here are the 2 simple ways to say i love you.
- mandarin (used in China, and Taiwan) it’s “wo ai ni”
- cantonese (used in Hong Kong), it’s “ngo oi lei”

For more ways to say i love you, check out our wedding blog at http://www.9weddings.com and search for the word i love you.

Our wedding dinner at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur with a cocktail reception at 6.28pm and i was surprised to hear that there were guests that arrived as early as 6 itself (at that point i was still doing my bridal make up & hair in the bridal suite).

Here is a photo of us with some of our guests :-

From left : Harrace’s mom (mother of the groom), Chelsia Ng (tv personality/celebrity & Miss Malaysia World), Harrace (the groom), Fione (me as the bride), and Kid Chan (who was actually a guest, but decided to bring in his camera too).

Our master of ceremony was Chelsia Ng , where eOneNet.com was managing her website, and being a personal friend, we knew how good she was as a MC.

When the time was right, guests were ushered into the ballroom and seated onto their respective tables, which were names of popular Websites, such as QQ.com (China’s most popular instant messaging system, even more popular than MSN Messenger), Amazon.com and of course our own range of sites like eOneNet.com

After the guests were seated down the lights for the ballroom lights were dimmed in preparation for the wedding march by the couple. You need to choose between total darkness or dimmed lights, so we choose the latter, as we would at least be able to see where we were going on the red carpet walkway.

Here is an animated photo of our wedding march.

On each table, flourescent light-up sticks (like neon glow lights) were placed so that guests could welcome the new couple, and party poppers were also placed. Upon reaching the stage, the huge party poppers were launched and there were lots of colours, and actions going on at the same time. Some wedding guests told me that it seemed more like a concert than a typical wedding dinner.

Of course, our wedding dinner was also attended by friends of all professions (lots of lawyers, solicitors, and businessmen), such as :-
Francis Chan Wing Kei, Hong Kong lawyer & Connie Lo, bestseller author in Hong Kong

Paul Shieh S.C, Senior Counsel, Barrister & wife, Teresa

Dilan Sum, legal consultant & wife, Debbie

Raymond Chung Hing To, Hong Kong lawyer

Tony Lam Yuk Shing, Hong Kong solicitor

Do you see some of the guests holding our bridal photos? Each guest upon arrival was able to choose any wedding photos from our “Photo trees” and also write down their wedding wishes to us, behind each photo. This was entertaining for the guests and they could look at the different photos that we took from bridal studios. The hard part was restricting to just 1 photo, as many guests loved several photos and ended up picking 5 photos for their collection. I’m just glad that they found the bridal photos to be tastefully done & attractive!

I’ve managed to add in more wedding videos greetings here from our Hong Kong Internet marketing coaching participants including :-
Leo Chan

Johnson Cheng

Cindy Sze

In a recent coaching conversation, Cindy even commented that our internet marketing program was good and the support was excellent, so she suggested that i should charge an even higher price for the Coaching…. ( details about our program is on www.InternetMarketingCoaching.com ). One thing for sure, it can really help to pay for more wedding expenses, haha.

Creative wedding wishes videos

One of our activities during our Hong Kong wedding, was the video taking of wedding wishes. Rather than the typical sign in for the dinner guests, we had a video kiosk setup to allow them to record their wedding wishes live.

It was a fun way for us as bride & groom to review their wishes, and there were definitely lots of laughter. On the wedding reception day, we were busy going from 1 group of friends to another group of friends. There would bound to be short conversations, and therefore this video allowed us to have lasting memories of who attended, and what they sent to us as wedding wishes.

Some of the wedding wishes in Cantonese include these ones :-
Ryan Li, full time online auction entpreneur:-

Margaret Tam, Hong Kong internet marketing coaching graduate:-

Both Ryan & Margaret were graduates of our Hong Kong Internet marketing training, and among the invited guests at my wedding.
