Romantic Holiday in Bali Island

We took time off for a romantic holiday to Bali Islands, as part of our first wedding anniversary celebrations. This is a memorable experience for both of us and it was our first time going to this island as husband and wife.

Day One : Shopping in Kuta Town

Day 1 started at the Hard Rock Hotel, just in the middle of Kuta town centre and facing the beach. Flying in from Kuala Lumpur, our Malaysia Airlines flight arrived in the afternoon and we took a cab to the hotel. We decided to use the money exchange downtown in Kuta as I found those rates better than what we could get in the airport. Be sure to hop around different money changers (some are just changing $ in their retail outlet), and you will find even up to 10% difference in the rate.

We had lunch in a local restaurant in Kuta centre ordering shrimp spaghetti in olive oil, shrimp crackers (keropok udang), and seafood tom yam soup (tom yam kuung), with his drinking ice lemongrass with honey tea, while I went with a fresh mixed fruit juice. Harrace made full use of his laptop by checking his email in the Coffee Bean Tea Leaf café while I sipped on the fruity ice-blended Malibu Dream drink.

The whole afternoon was just spent shopping on the main street and you’ll be amazed on how much genuine “fake” brands were around – Versace, Gucci or Calvin Klein. Therefore we ended up not buying much that day, but only local Balinese jewelry made of sea shells and silver jewelry.

Here are some photos of the cocktail reception we hosted last Saturday.

The first thing is to have the registration table. Check out the huge crowd lining up to register their attendance

- lists were divided by Alphabetical format as well as by Tables seating

As the bride & groom, do be prepared to snap lots of photos with guests, as this will allow us to greet them personally and capture our joyous moment with them on film.

Harrace, Fione, and Mr & Mrs David Lo
The new wedding couple & friends. Harrace, Fione and Mr & Mrs David Lo, (who turned from a prospect client to close friends of the bride).

It’s wise to group the wedding guests by the different industries or network. For instance, reserve tables for friends of the mother of the bride or business partners.

Friends of the mother of the bride
My mom’s friends & my aunt (4th lady from the left). Some of them, were aunties & uncles i’ve seen since i was 5 years old, so i guess they were surprised to see how much i’ve really grown.

Friends to Father of the Bride - different races of guests - Malay, Indian & Chinese wedding guests

My father (3rd from the left) & his wide range of multi-racial friends. This is probably one of the few times you’ll ever catch my dad wearing a suit.

Overseas wedding guests - Singapore wedding guests of Fione & Harrace
Mr & Mrs Teng, who has been our most supportive shareholder in eOneNet.com business since 2000. They came all the way from Singapore just to attend our wedding!

Customers of Internet Marketing coaching program by eOneNet
Some of our most valuable internet marketing coaching participants, Norhuda & daughter, Harrace & Myriam Oliveres from France.

Childhood friends of the bridal couple - Eric, Lilian, Fione & Harrace
And of course, our valued friends. Lilian & her husband, Eric and kids took the whole family to join our wedding. Lilian and I have been close buddies since 5 years old (we were in the same kindergarden).

Not missing out, were of course friends of my brother, Kevin. Can you guess which is my brother? He’s the cute guy, 2nd from the left.

This cocktail was from 6.28pm to 7.28pm, so that guests would have time to interact & take lots of photos. What did they do while waiting at the reception? Well, we actually gave them an instruction sheet, where they had to fulfill a few “tasks” at the event, after which they can be entitled to join the Grand Lucky Draw for amazing gifts, wines, and of course, CASH too!

Check out how excited these guests were to attend the wedding.

While browsing through the photos, we realised 1 item. We did not have a chance to take a family portrait! I wished i could have taken some photos with my family while i was wearing my custom made Margaret McCallum, swarovski crystal wedding gown. Did you notice that the design of the gown looked rather familiar? Yup, it’s in the logo of @ (to represent the Internet theme). Maybe i’ll have to arrange for another timing for our family photo session!

Our wedding dinner at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur with a cocktail reception at 6.28pm and i was surprised to hear that there were guests that arrived as early as 6 itself (at that point i was still doing my bridal make up & hair in the bridal suite).

Here is a photo of us with some of our guests :-

From left : Harrace’s mom (mother of the groom), Chelsia Ng (tv personality/celebrity & Miss Malaysia World), Harrace (the groom), Fione (me as the bride), and Kid Chan (who was actually a guest, but decided to bring in his camera too).

Our master of ceremony was Chelsia Ng , where eOneNet.com was managing her website, and being a personal friend, we knew how good she was as a MC.

When the time was right, guests were ushered into the ballroom and seated onto their respective tables, which were names of popular Websites, such as QQ.com (China’s most popular instant messaging system, even more popular than MSN Messenger), Amazon.com and of course our own range of sites like eOneNet.com

After the guests were seated down the lights for the ballroom lights were dimmed in preparation for the wedding march by the couple. You need to choose between total darkness or dimmed lights, so we choose the latter, as we would at least be able to see where we were going on the red carpet walkway.

Here is an animated photo of our wedding march.

On each table, flourescent light-up sticks (like neon glow lights) were placed so that guests could welcome the new couple, and party poppers were also placed. Upon reaching the stage, the huge party poppers were launched and there were lots of colours, and actions going on at the same time. Some wedding guests told me that it seemed more like a concert than a typical wedding dinner.

I’ve just gotten back to Malaysia and contacted my wedding venue - Mandarin Oriental Hotel KLCC to check on the wedding arrangements.

Have you got a theme for your wedding? Some of the popular wedding themes are beach themes, “colour” theme such as pink, gold, blue, garden themes, and more. I think it’s best to choose a wedding theme that matters to the bride & groom, rather than just following the wedding planners’ advice.

Therefore, you should be checking on the wedding venues beforehand, about what you need? If you want a Pool barbeque theme, but the hotel has a miserable or small swimming pool then you might consider another hotel venue.

For my wedding, we have the MAIN theme as the Internet Theme, so there would be High Tech gadgets and fun games. The other theme we liked was from the 183 Club movie “Prince turns into a Frog”, so we had cute frogs with crowns placed in different venues of the event too. For guests that attended the Hong Kong wedding earlier in March, can remember the Frog Prince banners, Frog with Computer eCards, and even our Banner Storyboard with our wedding photos, that can along with the frog images too.
