12 to show how women can fare in business today

KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve outstanding women entrepreneurs from China, Malaysia and Singapore will share their thoughts and perspectives about latest trends in the business world at a two-day summit here.

Malaysia-China-Asia Pacific Womens Economic Summit, organised by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and the Malaysia-China Cultural and Arts Association, will begin on March 5.

“It will be held in conjunction with International Women’s Day’s 100th anniversary,” said organising chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

The foreign speakers are Redhero Garment and Accessories Co. Ltd founder Liu Hong Ying, Nalco Company vice-chairman Ying Yeh and Banyan Tree Gallery (Singapore) Pte Ltd managing director Claire Chang.

The Malaysians are Hong Leong Assurance group managing director and chief executive officer Loh Guat Lim, Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd managing director and CEO Lee Jim Leng, Smart Reader group executive director Dr Wang Kim Ha and Cisco Systems Malaysia managing director Anne Abraham.

The others are eOneNet.com president and CEO Fione Tan, Securiforce Group founder and executive chairman Datuk Dr Maznah Hamid and Sin Chew Daily group editor-in-chief Siew Nyoke Chow.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala will also speak at the summit.

Chew said the event would be held with support from the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, China Asean Association and 26 other organisations.

“The summit is a call to every woman to step forward and achieve personal successes as they are the driving force behind today’s rapid social development,” she said at a press conference yesterday.

“We hope to change the conventional mindset of male dominance and male supremacy by promoting gender equality.”
