Campaign to help businesses go online

Business Times, September 4, 2000

In a move to promote and encourage Malaysian businesses, particularly small and medium-sized industries (SMI) to go online, the e-Business Ownership Campaign 2000 will be held beginning September 20 2000.

The campaign is organised by eOneNet.com, a Malaysian Internet company specialising in helping business owners get their business online.

The campaign will be kicked off with an e-Business Conference and Exhibition on September 20 and 21. The conference will see the gathering of 16 chief executive officers (CEOs) and directors of top websites in Malaysia and Singapore, who will share their experience in setting up websites with participants.

We have managed to make this conference affordable to everyone. It isn't like any other conference which give you only some generalised ideas about e-Business.

"Business owners can actually have their websites up and running in a few days," said Ms Fione Tan, CEO and president of eOneNet.com.

"The conference and workshop will not be too technical so that everyone, including those without any computer knowledge, will be able to understand what e-Business is all about," she said.

eOneNet.com will sponsor the first 500 SMI that have registered for the conference to get online by offering them free web design and hosting services package.

"So far, the response has been encouraging and we are confident the conference will be a success," Fione added.

The campaign is co-organised by the SMI Association of Malaysia and the National SMI Consultative Centre with the support of various organizations and dotcom companies.
